Data centers often use several different types of high-speed interconnects matching each interconnect type to specific requirements. DACs (Direct Attach Copper) is the lowest cost, but after about 3-7 meters the attenuation of the signal is significant and it becomes unrecognizable. AOCs (Active Optical Cable) are used from 3 meters to about 30 meters. It is not practical to install AOCs that are longer than 30 meters. This Active Optical Cable is specifically programmed to be fully compatibility and seamlessly connect Extreme devices to Extreme devices with a wavelength of 850nm. Our extensive quality control measures begin with physically inspecting each module, verification of hardware type, wavelength, transmit power, receive power, and full optical monitoring functionality (if applicable).
